Humans can’t live without our precious bees who pollinate over 75% of all flowering plants and over a third of world food crops. But the world's bee population is endangered due to pesticides, disease, loss of habitat and climate change. Something needs to change.
Also, more than ever, we are losing the connection between the food we consume and where it comes from.
Create a movement that allows environmentally responsible NZ consumers and businesses to become stewards of our bees - without the high costs, time commitments, and physical constraints of having beehives.
Bees for our next generation
Advocate - having a direct positive impact on NZ’s bee population and the critical role they play in our environment
Learn - understanding what bees do, how they live and how we can help them thrive and grow
Earn - benefiting from what bees do for us and the delicious golden nectar that we have access to when bees are heathy and thriving
How sponsoring a beehive works
Subscribe to sponsoring the creation of a new beehive
We will be in contact to introduce ourselves, re-confirm the process and set you up in our system
A brand-new beehive is built and prepared to house bees. The hive will be given its own specific reference number
A new mated queen and small split colony is introduced to their new home ready to grow
You will receive photos and videos of the process of creating this new beehive and even get to see it’s new view
The hive will be looked after by qualified and experienced beekeepers to ensure it remains healthy and in peak condition for both plant pollination and honey production
We will keep you informed along the whole journey by including you in our weekly educational program and you will watch the colony grow, understand the hive and how it works and begin to love your new friends as you follow their story
Hive sponsorship covers all on-going hive costs (maintenance/repairs, feeds, disease treatments and labour costs of managing & maintaining)
The new hives will be located in areas surrounding Geraldine, South Canterbury, nestled between the foothills of the Southern Alps and the fertile Canterbury plains. The bees will have access to native bush land as well as crops and pastures in NZ's productive 'food bowl'
